Christ. I needed a minute.

“You want a drink?” I asked.

Freya wriggled her soft, curvy body against mine. “Sure,” she said, and wriggled again.

I realized I was holding her so tight she couldn’t move. I hadn’t wanted to let her go after the way she’d lit up for me, the way she’d come for me. And for some reason after that I’d needed to avoid making eye contact with her, so I’d crushed her to me.

I wasn’t some coy virgin, but the thought of looking at her, into those big green eyes after what we just did…I couldn’t do it. My chest constricted. It was too much.

I released her and climbed off the bed, stumbling a little as I headed for the door. My legs felt like jelly, and my gut was in knots, my heart still racing a million miles an hour. “Be right back,” I said and bolted down the goddamn stairs.

I hit the kitchen and rested my hands against the counter, trying to catch my breath. My chest felt constricted.

Jesus, it was almost like I was having a…shit, a panic attack.

I filled a glass with water and downed it.

What the hell is wrong with me?

Yeah, I could admit that had been by far the best sex I’d ever had in my life, and yeah, I felt a little overwhelmed by what had just happened. Okay, a lot. But that was no reason to freak out. It’d just been a long time since I’d had sex, that’s all. Four years was a long time for anyone.

Of course it was going to seem more intense. That’s all it was. I needed to go back up there and fuck her again, get back into the swing of it. I’d just acted like an excited puppy, grateful for a new toy. A few more rounds and I’d be back to my old self.

I filled up another glass with water for Freya and headed back upstairs.

I walked into my room and stumbled again when I saw her lying in my bed. She’d climbed under the covers. Her auburn hair was spread out over my pillow, eyes shut, and the sheet covering her naked body hugged her curves.

Something hit me hard, like a kick to the gut. I had no idea what the hell it was, but it felt bad…and really, really good all at once. I ignored it and walked over to her.

“Freya?”

Nothing. She was out.

I should have let her sleep, but I needed back inside her. I craved her again already, like a clawing hunger in my gut, and I knew only Freya could cure it.

That freaked me out. I didn’t want to think about why. I sure as hell didn’t want anyone to have that kind of hold over me. I needed to prove that this feeling was about having sex for the first time in a long time. Anything else was unacceptable.

So, I placed her drink on the bedside table, pulled the sheet back, and climbed in beside her. She made a cute little whimpering sound that made my dick even harder.
